Decorated Bodies is a mixed media piece that explores the ways lace can be contextualized beyond its formal traditions of use. Lace is a means to conceal and reveal simultaneously while presenting a laborious process that often will present as an extravagance or a signifier of privilege. Its use in this work is to transform, manipulate, and demonstrate a new experience the viewer can have with glass. The work reinterprets the intricate structures and subverts the material to challenge traditional construction.
